Chemistry Olympiad from pharmaceutical company AVVA RUS

The Olympiad was held by the pharmaceutical company "AVVA RUS" with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Kirov Region and Vyatka State University. The winner of the Olympiad received 100 thousand rubles, and the Lyceum was provided with a certificate for 300,000 rubles for targeted use. The prize money was used to purchase equipment for interactive chemistry classes and chemical process modeling.

Alexey Egorov, General Director of AVVA RUS, supported the initiative of the Lyceum's management:

The digitalization of education and interactive teaching methods are in high demand today and are essential for popularizing science.

Olga Ryseva, Minister of Education of the Kirov Region, who attended the event, emphasized the Olympiad's contribution to regional career guidance programs:

Close cooperation between education and production is one of the forms of career guidance for students in preparing modern highly qualified specialists. Well-trained specialists are always in demand in the region in industries related to chemical engineering. Thanks to AVVA RUS, which initiated the Olympiad, young chemists from the Lyceum will now find it twice as interesting to acquire knowledge and apply it in practice.

The importance of such events was also supported by Alexey Ryabov, Deputy Chairman of the Kirov City Duma. He noted the uniqueness of the First Regional Chemistry Olympiad and recommended that companies in other industries hold similar events.

In turn, Irina Andrianova, HR Director of AVVA RUS, emphasized the importance of training future specialists:

We place great importance on training future specialists. And as you can see, we do this literally from the school bench. We also have a robust educational motivation program for the children of our employees. We actively cooperate with leading Russian universities in internship programs.

Olga Gordiyenko, Director of the Kirov Branch of JSC AVVA RUS, concluded the meeting:

Due to the nature of our work, we often interact with our talented youth, including schoolchildren and students. To our surprise, the Olympiad showed that the knowledge level of students from secondary educational institutions is higher than what the school or lyceum curriculum can provide. This is the level of knowledge of young practicing specialists in the pharmaceutical industry, which I am sincerely happy about.

Olga Gordiyenko also announced that AVVA RUS will continue to support educational projects in the Kirov Region and noted that the total prize fund of the First Regional Olympiad amounted to over half a million rubles.

Recall that the first round of the Olympiad took place in December last year. 317 Kirov schoolchildren decided to compete for victory, but only 10 reached the final. The second stage of the school Olympiad was held in early February of this year.

The second round lasted two hours for solving theoretical problems, and another two hours for practical tasks prepared by the laboratory staff of AVVA RUS. Three schoolchildren made it to the final:

1st place: Elizaveta Noskova, a 10th-grade student of KOGOAU LEN No. 9 (Kirov). Award: 100 thousand rubles and a certificate for equipping a chemistry classroom for the school.*

2nd place: Irina Kolupaeva, an 11th-grade student of Linguistic Gymnasium No. 9 (Kirov). Award: 50 thousand rubles.*

3rd place: Marina Vshivtseva, a 10th-grade student of MKOU "Education Center named after A. Nekrasov" (Kirovo-Chepetsk). Award: 25 thousand rubles.*
