317 Kirov schoolchildren fought for equipment for a modern chemistry classroom for their school
Pharmaceutical company "AVVA RUS" summarized results of the first round of the competition for young Kirov chemists.
In December, the first regional Chemistry Olympiad was held in the Kirov Region. Within this competition, school students could not only demonstrate their knowledge and skills in chemistry but also win funding for their school to build and equip a high-quality school chemistry laboratory.
The organizers of this Olympiad were the pharmaceutical company "AVVA RUS", Vyatka State University, and the Ministry of Education of the Kirov Region.
On January 15, the semi-finalists of the First Regional Chemistry Olympiad were announced. The following students advanced to the second round of the competition: Pavel Rychkov, Mikhail Mokrushin, Elizaveta Noskova, and Mikhail Novoselov from the Lyceum of Natural Sciences (Kirov); Daniil Stolbov from the Multidisciplinary Lyceum (Kirov); Elizaveta Tokareva and Nika Opaleva from the Lyceum of Information Technologies (Kirov); Valeria Sofronova from School No. 62 named after A.Ya. Oparin; and tenth-grader Marina Vshivtseva from the A. Nekrasov Education Center.
As the organizers admit, they hoped that many students and the schools themselves would be interested in the Olympiad, but they could not have imagined such an influx of participants:
– The actual number of participants exceeded all our expectations, said Irina Andrianova, HR Director of "AVVA RUS". – We are pleased by the fact that there are so many kids in the Kirov Region who are genuinely interested in chemistry and show excellent results!
The First Regional Olympiad was indeed in staggering demand: within just 24 hours of accepting competition entries, 317 students from educational institutions in the Kirov Region applied to participate in the first round.
Despite such a large number of participants, the jury members checked the competition papers from the theoretical stage multiple times.
– We checked each work very carefully to leave no room for doubt, said Denis Kozulin, Chairman of the jury for the theoretical stage of the Olympiad and Deputy Director of the Institute of Chemistry and Ecology at VyatSU. – Even though the difficulty level of the tasks corresponded to that of All-Russian Olympiads, our students demonstrated a very high level of knowledge.
Even the General Director of "AVVA RUS", Alexey Egorov, noted the professionalism and creativity in completing the tasks: "We are glad to acknowledge the high level of preparation of Kirov school students. Our company will continue to support talented kids on their path to knowledge. The school Olympiad is far from the last event we will implement within our humanitarian and educational projects."
Recall that completing theoretical tasks is only the first stage of the Olympiad. The second round will take place on January 27 at the "AVVA RUS" plant itself.
This stage of the competition will be much more difficult than the previous one. The semi-finalists will need to be fully engaged, focused, and concentrate all their knowledge.
All practical tasks will be performed in the real laboratories of the pharmaceutical company. Based on the results of this round, the three most capable chemists in the region will be selected to compete for the main prizes of the First Regional Chemistry Olympiad – monetary rewards and equipment for the chemistry classroom of the winning school.
