Drug production in Russia increased by 36.7%

Drug production in Russia in the first half of 2016 increased by 36.7% (in monetary terms, compared to the same period in 2015). This was announced by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Sergey Tsyb during the All-Russian Congress "Immunobiological Shield of Russia."

According to Tsyb, the number of domestic drugs in the field of immunobiology has also grown. "In immunobiology, we have 60 international nonproprietary names (INNs) of drugs produced in Russia, and they are manufactured by more than 40 producers," the Deputy Minister reported.

The market volume for vaccines in 2015 amounted to 11.7 billion rubles, added Olga Kolotilova, Head of the Department for Development of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry at the Ministry of Industry and Trade. At the same time, domestic producers accounted for 39% of it in monetary terms and 81.5% in physical terms (number of packages).

She also provided more recent data for the first nine months of 2016: the share of domestic companies in the vaccine market grew to 65% in monetary terms and 85.5% in packages.

"This essentially means that we are covering the vaccination calendar with our own medicines," explained Olga Kolotilova.

According to calculations by the analytical company RNC Pharma, in the first nine months of 2016, the production volume of domestic medicines in monetary terms reached 225.2 billion rubles. This is 25.1% more than in the same period a year earlier.
