The head of the region discussed the prospects for interaction with the management of the company "AVVA RUS"

November 24, 2016 Acting Governor of the Kirov Region Igor Vasilyev met with the management of the pharmaceutical company AVVA RUS: General Director Alexey Egorov (Moscow) and Director of the Kirov Branch Olga Gordienko. Also participating in the meeting were acting Deputy Chairmen of the Regional Government Maxim Kochetkov and Dmitry Kurdyumov.

In October of this year, the head of the regional government visited the enterprise located in Kirov and inspected the production facilities of the pharmaceutical complex. At that time, prospects for further expansion of production and product range were discussed with O. Gordienko. Today's meeting at the regional government, as noted by I. Vasilyev, became a logical continuation of constructive interaction between authorities and business.

"For our region, the development of biotechnology and biopharmaceuticals are strategic priorities. There is both potential and growth points in this area. Therefore, AVVA RUS's activities in the Kirov Region are very important. This enterprise is and will remain our strategic partner," emphasized Igor Vladimirovich.

During the meeting, the head of the region and the company's management discussed the re-registration of the legal entity JSC AVVA RUS in the Kirov Region. During his earlier visit to the enterprise, I. Vasilyev had already mentioned that such large high-tech productions should be registered in the region. In his response, Alexey Egorov noted the mutual desire to reach an agreement on this issue:

"We understand that the regional budget formation process is underway, there are social obligations to residents, and it's necessary to replenish the tax base."

Following the negotiations, the regional government together with the company will shortly prepare a "roadmap" for key prospective measures.

"This concerns increasing the number of workplaces, investment growth, support for the social sector, and infrastructure development," reported Maxim Kochetkov. "Additionally, opportunities for the company's cooperation with a core university for training relevant personnel were discussed, and even the question of the enterprise's participation in a mortgage system to provide housing for young specialists and qualified personnel."

In turn, the region - the acting governor assured - should also support the company: for example, by ensuring uninterrupted supply of electricity, heat, and lighting - essentially doing everything possible so the enterprise can operate normally. As it turned out, the company is experiencing problems, and the meeting with the regional leader discussed the possibility of connecting the production site of JSC AVVA RUS to water supply and sewerage networks.

"We will help," promised Igor Vasilyev.

He immediately instructed acting Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Ilya Shulgin to take comprehensive measures to resolve the problems.

"The fact that a plant with substantial revenue operates practically without networks, with waste removal and water supply conducted not constantly but periodically, is nonsense and an unfortunate technological error," said Ilya Vyacheslavovich. "This situation is unacceptable. Together with colleagues, we are ready to consider all possible assistance options to get the plant operating normally. And we will help as quickly as possible."

According to AVVA RUS management, the meeting was very positive and productive.

"In the company's 20 years of existence, this is our first meeting with the head of the region!" said Alexey Egorov. "It's very important that the regional leadership strives to understand what problems businesses face and what economic growth points can be found here. I'm talking about growth points for both existing or developing businesses, and for businesses ready to enter the region. Without going anywhere and holding such meetings, it's impossible to learn this. Meanwhile, the Vyatka region can count on real investment projects and funding. It's great that there is such active and constructive movement toward us from Igor Vladimirovich and the regional government!"

BACKGROUND

JSC AVVA RUS is a Russian pharmaceutical company that has been producing its own developed medicines since 1996 and specializes in producing drugs in areas such as pediatrics, gastroenterology, cardiology, neurology, allergology, and infectious diseases. The company is included in the list of organizations that significantly influence industries and trade, and its products are supplied not only to Russian regions but also abroad - to Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Romania.

The company is an active participant in the federal target program "Development of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry of the Russian Federation for the Period until 2020." The enterprise has implemented 5 state contracts for the development and organization of production of medicinal products included in the Vital and Essential Drugs List (VED).

Currently, the company plans to implement two projects aimed at import substitution of two active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). The projects involve developing technology and organizing production of highly active pancreatin API in the form of enteric-soluble micropellets, as well as ursodeoxycholic acid API. The peculiarity of these projects is that the Russian market lacks production of these APIs.
