Biotechnological industrial cluster in the Kirov region

Acting Governor of the Kirov Region Igor Vasiliev has ordered the start of preparations for the creation of a biotechnological industrial cluster in the region.

As explained by the regional Ministry of Industry and Energy, the cluster is intended to unite the efforts of the region's leading pharmaceutical enterprises for the development and production of in-demand medicines.

The existing cluster associations in the region today cannot be included in the federal register because they do not meet the requirements for industrial clusters.

Currently, under the leadership of Acting Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government Maxim Kochetkov, a plan of measures for the creation of a biotechnological industrial cluster in the Kirov Region has been developed and approved. The creation of the cluster is planned before the end of 2017. The production site of the "NanoLEK" Biomedical Complex will serve as the foundation for the cluster association.

The requirements for the creation of clusters are established by the Government of the Russian Federation (Decree No. 779 dated July 31, 2015, "On Industrial Clusters and Specialized Organizations of Industrial Clusters"). Fulfillment of these requirements will allow the biotechnological industrial cluster to be included in the list of industrial clusters and specialized organizations of industrial clusters of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and to subsequently receive support from the federal budget.
