Saturday clean-up "AVVA RUS"

Following established tradition, on April 29th, employees of JSC "AVVA RUS" held a community work day (subbotnik) and cleaned up the area of Pobedy (Victory) Park near the monument to Grigory Bulatov: they cleared away garbage and leaves that had accumulated over the winter. In doing so, the company honors the memory of the soldiers who died during the war and those who forged the victory on the home front.

Olga Gordiyenko, Director of the Kirov branch of JSC "AVVA RUS", tells the story:

This is the third time we are holding a subbotnik in Pobedy Park at the Bulatov monument. In the first year, we installed benches here, in the second year we created an alley in the shape of a star with perennial shrubs. The location was not chosen by chance—we remember the feat of our fellow countrymen during the Great Patriotic War, and on the eve of the holiday, we try to contribute to the improvement of the park.

A subbotnik is our initiative and is in no way for show. We love our city, its residents, and we want it to be clean and beautiful.

As is tradition, we brought apples with us, which we handed out to citizens walking in the park, congratulating them on the upcoming Victory Day.

This year, "AVVA RUS" decided to organize targeted assistance for a veteran. With the help of the Oktyabrsky District territorial administration, we found a grandmother, Lyudmila Grigoryevna Kononova – a resident of besieged Leningrad and a former concentration camp prisoner. She now lives just a five-minute drive from our enterprise. She is 84 years old; in 1942, as a child, she was sent to a concentration camp, endured all the horrors of wartime, and today she needs the most basic things. After visiting her, we found out what she needed. On the eve of the holiday, we will come to her with flowers, congratulate her on the Victory, and of course help her: we will re-lay the linoleum in the kitchen and replace the lock on the front door. I believe that memory is not in loud words, but in concrete help for the people who survived the war. This is a fundamental position of our company, and we will continue to honor the memory of veterans and support them.
