On April 5, 2017, a cooperation agreement between Vyatka State University and JSC "AVVA RUS" will be publicly signed at a press conference at VyatSU.

Within the framework of this cooperation, a series of events are planned for 2017 aimed at increasing young people's interest in the biopharmaceutical industry and at employing graduates of Vyatka State University.

The goal of the joint program is to facilitate the employment of young specialists in the Kirov Region and to enhance the prestige of higher education at state universities in Russian regions. The cooperation is aimed at popularizing biopharmaceuticals among applicants, students, and graduates of the university, strengthening the industry's potential, and attracting youth's attention to environmental issues as part of 2017, which has been declared the Year of Ecology in Russia.

"Pharmaceutical biotechnology is one of the university's priority development areas. For modern higher education, the interaction between the university and industrial enterprises is extremely important. These enterprises are, on the one hand, consumers of personnel, and on the other, customers of research and development work. Cooperation with enterprises developing their production in the Kirov Region has always been the foundation of the university's successful activities. In this regard, having a partner like JSC 'AVVA RUS' gives us confidence in the future of the university and the region," said Acting Rector of VyatSU Valentin Pugach.

The launch of the Experimental Scientific and Educational Program of VyatSU and JSC "AVVA RUS" is designed for several years and is scheduled for early April 2017.

The main focus of JSC "AVVA RUS" and VyatSU is the development of drugs with an enhanced safety profile. Research will be conducted with the involvement of a laboratory holding a European grant, located in the Republic of Cyprus. The work will be aimed at studying human microbiota using a modern research method - 16s rRNA gene sequencing.

Also, this year, the cooperation between the university and JSC "AVVA RUS" includes joint work on organizing and implementing scientific and educational projects in the promising interdisciplinary field of biopharmaceuticals.

With the support of JSC "AVVA RUS", the integration of practicing specialists into the educational process of VyatSU and the organization of an internship program for university students at the enterprise with the possibility of subsequent employment are planned throughout the year.

"Kirov is developing, and we are growing with it. This is our future, and we have decided to join forces to form the personnel potential of domestic biopharmaceuticals and ensure the development of an effective system of continuous training of personnel capable of solving the most complex research and technological tasks in the region itself, without leaving it," emphasized Olga Gordienko, Director of the Kirov Branch of JSC "AVVA RUS".

Also, as part of the program implementation, the parties agreed that VyatSU will become the base platform for the first regional competition of student and youth works "ECOPHARM BREAKTHROUGH", implemented with the support of JSC "AVVA RUS". Material incentives will be provided for the competition winners.

"A feature of education in the field of biopharmaceuticals, which students of the Institute of Biology and Biotechnology receive, is the formation of practical skills in the development and production of biopharmaceutical drugs. Our goal in personnel training is to graduate a specialist ready to work in the most modern biopharmaceutical productions," said Ekaterina Martinson, Director of the Institute of Biology and Biotechnology.

"This agreement is another real step in the development of interaction between higher education and the biopharmaceutical industry, and we hope that our cooperation will contribute to the formation of a new generation of highly professional personnel who will not leave the region for large cities but will become continuers of production dynasties in Kirov," said Acting Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation of VyatSU Sergey Litvinets.
